The next morning we rolled out at 8:30am sharp to make sure we arrived at Bann Nan Resort before night fall. Traditionally our 2nd and 3rd days are the longest and most challenging drive. This time was no different as we drove some 485km from Loei through Phitsanulok, Uttaradit, Prae, and finally Nan province. |
Our service crew from Autohaus and Power Lab (above) proved to be our most valuable asset, as they keep our cars rolling thru Northern Thailand. |
The road was long and curvy just how we like it. The mountain roads proof to be challenging for the older generation cars such as the 911E Horngrill and the G-Series. Surprisingly the car to breakdown was the 964 RWB backdate. Drive shaft, wheel bearing and brake shoe replacement proved no big deal for our service team. As we thundered on the mountain road another disaster struck. One of the G-Series experienced a snapped throttle cable up in the mountain. This one took quite a bit to fix because the service truck had to scale up the mountain to get the broken cable then come back down to find a workshop to replace it with proper fitting. Since the driver and passenger were stuck up in the mountain way over lunch, we feared they may have had to survive by eating each other’s arms, but luckily they didn't. Drama aside we love the beautiful mountainside cafe where we waited for our comrades to regroup. |

It does not matter if new or old, air cooled, water-cooled or mid engine as long as it have two doors, RENNDRIVE crew rolled together. Our passion for Porsche and driving is second to none. |
All the twisting narrow roads up and down the mountain reminded us just what these Porsche were made for. The drive was long and difficult, but we were blessed by the Car God and had the privilege to tame our Porsches into a cornering speed machine in their natural habitat. We finally arrived at Bann Nan Resort an hour before dinner which was just enough time for a few bottles of red wine to spice up the night. We finished off the night with a light party at the resort porch next to our cars where we reminisce the fun drive from behind our wheels, that’s the second best part after the drive itself. |
