The fourth morning is the one we dreaded waking up to because it's the final day of any gear-head’s dream. Our trip will be over today. We had been working hard to collect donation all year long for this day! Our most meaningful destination to visit is needy Baan Nong Keaw School where we donated money to build a school building the previous year. Today we get to see the fruit of our donations and we even added some more funds towards the school. |
We took a different route to explore different road and extended our trip as long as we could towards Chiang Mai. On the way we stopped at a mountainside before lunch for a final scenic photo opportunity where the star-studded “Team Marvel” got their cars together to form a 6-star circle for an aerial shot to signify our 6th road trip. Each trip member is rewarded with a Star. The one with most Star will get first refusal right to join the next trip. This is the 6th trip that earn you a Star. |
Down the mountain we wanted to extend our trip as long as possible, but couldn’t resist the temptation of open winding road. We blasted through kilometers as if it was our first day to arrive at our lunch then to the school. After lining up our cars, we were welcomed with a local dance performed by the students. Then we noticed the sign "RennDrive Building". Words of gratitude from students brought great joy to our hearts. Yes, we will be back again. Kids still need a proper place to dine as well as an infirmary. |
After the school visit we took our drive at a slower pace maybe it's the overflow of joy or maybe we knew that the last leg is a trouble-free straight to the loading area at the Royal Flora Ratchaphruek. Little did we know! With only 60kms to go “Cinderella” - the yellow 993 RWB had a fuel pump failure. Repair has to be done quickly if we were going to load the cars and catch our 7pm flight in time! The job was done on the roadside within 30 minutes, but that didn't stop our resident photographer from stopping by and grab some pictures. This final breakdown again was a proof that we live our "no one gets left behind" motto. |
Heavy rain. The rain was so heavy that the last three Porsches could hardly see beyond 100 meters in front of them. As we arrived at the trailer, most of the cars had already been loaded and half of us already left for the airport. It was a scramble to load the remaining cars at the onset of the rain and that the light was leaving the skyline to mark the end of this trip. We all managed to catch the plane in time along with a quick dinner at the airport. We highly recommend the “Kao Soi” ( traditional Northern-style noodles in yellow curry soup just before the departure gate) at the airport food court! |
Our last gathering was the next day that we picked up our cars from IMPACT arena and we go our separate ways – mostly to a car wash! The open roads kept calling us and most of us had a difficult time restraining ourselves to the office desks and getting back to our day job. Somehow we knew that this trip will be talked about for months among the RENNDRIVE crew. |
